The Marietta Silos crew is using a specifically designed, cementitious coating with a bonding agent that will protect the steel galvanized hoops and prevent leakage. The employees are working off of a suspended work platform while wearing body harnesses as part of the fall protection, safety program. As time and the weather elements affect concrete stave silos, this coating seals and protects the concrete staves from moisture. Stave silo construction utilizes the steel galvanized hoops for the structural integrity of the bulk storage system. Not protecting them in the correct manner will negatively affect the hoops longevity.
